Adios Mi Amigos
By Kickntrue on 9/23/11

The past five years have been the best of my life, personally and professionally. I've been blessed with health, a wonderful wife, and beautiful and energetic son (plus twins on the way!). While many twenty-somethings struggle with finding work that makes them happy (and in some cases even having a job), I've had the amazing experience of waking up each morning excited for what I get to do. Whether it's create a new product or feature, or writing about the day's odd and interesting golf news, I've never been disappointed with what I can do. It has never felt like a job.

As many of you know, oobgolf was sold two years ago to SkyGolf, makers of SkyCaddie. SkyGolf has been nothing short of great, and has allowed me to continue my passion of creating the best golf tracking experience available on the web, all while working hand in hand with their teams and getting to contribute ideas to the #1 Rangefinder In Golf. Sure, it's a marketing line- but I absolutely believe that statement with all of my heart, and the experiences and lessons I've learned while working at SkyGolf have been invaluable. I'm also really happy for you guys- because the transition to SkyGolf means the site is no longer reliant on two cousins working out of home offices. oobgolf is in good hands and will continue to operate, with Nathan Trifone at the helm.

I'll soon be be moving to Orlando, Florida. My wife and I have family there, and another amazing adventure awaits.

The beauty of oobgolf is it's social and while I don't know many of you by name and face, I certainly feel like I know who you are. I may have to give up my admin rights to the site- but I still get to be "Kickntrue." While I won't be writing the stories or thinking up new features, I'll certainly be around to rip the grammar and give my feedback. Heck- I may even send in an article or two for the "oobers rock" columns and see if I'm any good at this stuff.

Thank you guys so much! You made oobgolf matter, and will continue to be what makes it great. The encouragement we received, especially early on in the project is what gave use the energy and motivation to take the site from a pet project you get bored with in a year, to being the largest golf social network on the web. You guys truly rock and while I'm thrilled about what lies ahead, there is a large part of me that will always be at oobgolf.

Always an oober,

Andrew Brown, aka Kickntrue

I was initially drawn to Oob by your interesting take on the world of golf and steady hand on Oob's tiller. Best of luck in your new endeavors and keep contributing. Hope to meet you someday at the WAHC!

Good luck Andrew, I love the site you built and hope sky golf keeps it going or merges it data and all into their offering at the same price. Have fun in Orlando, Year round golf ftw.

I've only been here less than a week, but I really appreciate the effort you put into making this site what it is. I've looked for something similar off and on for years and just never liked anything that was out there until I found oobgolf. Good luck!

Man you'll be missed, it is the down to earth feel of this site that makes it rock. I hope skygolf doesn't ruin that. So what new adventures are you about to begin, if you can share?

I love this site. I'm a PGA pro's son. We own our own shop. I really don't follow the golfing world very closely. This site has helped me. This site makes the news fun. Always enjoy reading the stories. Y'all make if fun. Good luck Andrew. Gonna miss you man.
jwilder78 says:
This site is your legacy -- for the first time, players had easy access to actual, valuable, MEANINGFUL data regarding their game and the courses they play, without relying on some archaic, central "USGA Official Handicap" system. And it's damn fun, too. Thank you for creating that! Good luck with your next adventure.
iNorv9 says:
best of luck! appreciate all your efforts and will continue to support oob.

and sorry to be the grammar police: it should be "MIS" amigos ;)
Matt F says:
Andrew, what you guy's have accomplished with this site, is what all of this type should aspire to be. Friendly, helpful, not full of your own importance and a good level of camaraderie.

Good luck with your new adventure, whatever it involves. And thank you.

I don't know what to say. Nathan's hole in one with your clubs couldn't have been THAT bad. Yeah....this site is your legacy. It was a truly revolutionary idea. I hope you were rewarded well for your efforts here because I'll be honest. When I found this site, I was looking at trying to make one just like it. But when I found yours, I realized I didn't have a prayer. I've never looked back.

Oh....and BTW....since you're the grammar nazi, the correct way to title this post would be "adios mis amigos".

I started on Oob a few years back, same as many was drawn to the 'net' conversation on articles and postings, well still here and plan on being here for as long as Oob is around.

In short - Oob is a great success and if your next venture is anything like this one, you'll be too busy being a country club snob to even worry about us... ;)

Thanks for all the hard work on making this an amazing site!
