Get Your oobgolf Apparel
By mustang6560 on 8/5/11
I just ordered my first oobgolf shirt thanks to the efforts of oober birdieXris, who is the brains and muscle behind the website oobgolf.promoshop.com.

The idea is to offer oobgolf apparel at an affordable price to allow oobers to show their love and to promote the site. Neither birdieXris nor oobgolf is making any money off the apparel sales. All of the merchandise is priced to break even.

You can buy oobgolf hats, towels and golf shirts through oobgolf.promoshop.com and the cool part is you can have your username embroidered on the apparel (just add a note in the "special instructions" box). There are several different styles of golf shirts available for both men and women and a few different style hats and golf towels. I bought a Back Blocked Sport Shirt (white-forest green) and got my username embroidered on the shirt to wear at the World Am.

BirdieXris did a great job with the website so I would encourage you to check it out. The merchandise is fairly priced so you can afford to show off your love for oobgolf.

Guys get your name of that site! You're better than that!! You can't even see the products your "suppose" to be selling. dottom is right,,, Zen Cart?? I didn't think anyone was still using that to make sites anymore. I want to throw my name in the ring, I can make you a much better site.

@et all- had the same thoughts. the site is lousy, but it was done by a user and nobodies making any money. the gear is quality (i ordered some and checked it out) and the fact is we wouldn't have ever done it ourselves. it's not like BirdieXris made the site either- he just went to the local embroidery shop and gave them his designs- this is what they use. If you want to provide an embroidery shop with a new site- feel free to call on them as a prospective client.

:) but ya-the site is pretty lousy.

My Aunt has a few embroidary machines, and does a lot of business in the area, maybe I can get something from this store, and see if my aunt matches up.
I will only do something if it is worth it for the oob-ers.

I think its cool we're getting merch, like this site, it will grow and get better in time.
I think it would be cool to rock some Oob gear. Although everyone thinks oob means OUT OF BOUNDS when i tell them about it LOL

I would love to take credit for the site (read: NOT). Actually that's a free interface that was put up by the company as a courtesy. We don't have to do anything except have ideas and i make the pics. I had concerns that the images are too small but for some reason they can't make them any bigger (probably because it's such a basic web interface. I'm working on pushing for a bigger image on some of them but it's slow going.

As for other items. I'm going as fast as i can with the design and posting/review process. @Dart - i haven't found a quality visor to offer yet for the site. I've been going through a while. I had requests for "big and tall" and such too but to no avail. That stuff is pretty darn expensive. OOB isn't putting out any money for the site at all - it's all by the piece and at cost. I just haven't had the time lately like i have - the fiancée and i are in the midst of buying a house, and getting ready for WAHC. I'll step it up though ASAP.

Also - should you get something from the site - take a photo of it and send it to birdiexris@gmail.com. Maybe i can use that for the actual merch picture and make it bigger. I think that would be cool to have oobers as the "models" - but don't quote me on that - it may not be possible with this particular site. Much like anyting though, i'm sure if it takes off we can polish it and figure something out.

@birdieXris As a web designer I got a little crazy with the "review" of the site, my apologies to you. Yes, Zen Cart is rarely used anymore, it all makes sense now that you said that it's what they provided. The gear looks top notch, the pictures are fine but they have to at least be able to be enlarged. Being that the site will be connected to this one, the look won't matter as much, but you will still need to be able to see the products better.

@Todd- maybe i can get them to release the core code that links back to their site and you can help work something at least a little nicer up? That site is linked to their national database of items, which is why the generic looking photos and models. I had to do the photo work on those files to use. They couldn't even change the thumbnails, so it's pretty restrictive. I'm working out a line of Tshirts and trying to find a quality visor so when i go to them with that information, i'll see what i can get. Even if it's a better face page with photos that you click on and it takes you to those pages to order, it's better than nothing. Glad to see there's some interest though :) I wish i was in the web game, but i'm just a commercial photoshop artist -- i dont' do much HTML if any.

@birdiexris and @ToddRobb -

I too take back my site critique. I totally understand, it's just the rest of the site if clean and useable and when you get to the merch store...Yikes. The product looks great. Larger photos would really make a beter impression.

If a crappy site keeps the price down I'm all for it! Will have to put a hat on my wishlist. I love that it is to the side. So kewl :)

I wonder how much it would cost to mass-produce "oobgolf" ball markers.

Not bad, but would be better if the images showed the oob logo for each color item and style. I could do the Photoshop if you would like, otherwise someone would have to make a ton of shirts, hats, etc and get pictures.

Cheers.
