Would You Rather?

Let's play a game I like to call "Would You Rather". It's similar to "Never Have I Ever", but instead of owning up to a mistake you made or admitting to embarrassing behavior, you have to pick between two separate realities. If presented correctly, both statements are equally awesome or equally awful. There is no wrong answer so don't be bashful. The true beauty of the game is in the reasoning behind your answer.
In light of Ernie Els precarious situation (he is on the verge of missing the Masters for the first time in nearly 20 years), I was inspired to ask the following "Would You Rather" question.
Would you rather:
A) Play Augusta National the Sunday before the MastersObviously, for someone like Ernie who is a millionaire many times over, $25k is a drop in the bucket. However, for someone like you and me, a quarter of $100,000 is a lot of money. A potential game changer if you will. 250 benjamins is a new car, a down payment on a house, a membership at a nice golf course in your area, etc. But, we're also talking about Augusta National here. The creme de la creme of golf. For some, the mecca of golf. Is it worth $25,000?
You tell me.

I'll take the 25k. One round of golf is NOT worth 25k. I don't care where it is.
Mjaber I agree, I'll take the 25k and then play tour 18 which has amen corner replica lol
Duke of Hazards says:
i'll take the 25k as well.
btw - that wouldn't happen to be 'Lucy' in the pic above, would it?
Yep i'm with everybody above. Taking the money here.
Let's see, $25,000 will get me transport and tee times for Pebble, Spyglass, Bandon, Whispering Straits, Pinehurst, etc... with coin still in the pocket. As much as I would like to play Augusta National, I am with everyone else - show me the money.
No way would i take the money, the memories of golfing on the same grounds as the greatest players in the world is priceless. The history that place holds is unlike any other sports venue in the world. Money comes and goes but those memories would last forever.
I am ok with taking the cheddar and playing Augusta on Tiger Woods 2k13. Same thing, right?
$$$$ very easy answer.
joe jones says:
I know that I said in My Golfer Of The Week that I would love to play Augusta but my age I wouldn't be able to walk the course so the choice is easy. Gimme the money.
Torleif Sorenson says:
1000 points to BKuehn1952 for nailing it (again). $25,000 would get me *several* trips to Bandon - and a car, so that I could actually afford to take my sweet time driving out there.
Money's only money. I'd play Augusta.
The money. Augusta is great, but there are other courses that have an even older history (St. Andrews for one...) Besides, I've already decided one of my kids is gonna turn pro and I'll be playing practice rounds with him at Augusta for years to come :-)
I would take the $25k. Then I'd invest half of it in low risk mutual funds. Then I'd take the other half over to my friend Asadullah who works in securities.
Who do I get to play Augusta with......??
Good point guzzlingil, but I'd play it alone. Probably shoot 150. Smilin' all the while.
The only bad thing about taking the money is that once it's gone, it's gone. Whereas, playing Augusta is something you will have with you forever. However, I'd still take the money. Agree with Brian (bkuehn). I could take one helluva golf vacation. Actually, probably two or three great golf vacations to some of the greatest places to play anywhere in the world.
Augusta. 25K isnt nearly enough for me to second guess this.
Clearly $25k is too much for most folk to give up. Let's see if we can split the field a bit more:
A) Play Augusta National the Sunday before the Masters
B) Win $5,000, but never get to play Augusta National.
I'd probably take the 25K, but it was definitely not an easy choice.
Take the money and run!! I agreee with most post above, several golf outings and still have money left.
Changing the question slightly, how much would you pay to play Augusta with one friend?
25k any day. Could play 50 rounds at Pebble for that :)
I'll take Augusta. $25K come's and goes. Easy choice.
$25K or play Augusta alone, I'll take the $. $25k or play Augusta with my dad and brother, Play Augusta. Not as memorable if you don't share it with someone special to you.
I'd take the cash unless the round at Augusta includes playing partners of my choice.
$25,000 is 50 Rounds at Pebble Beach. $25,000 = about £16,000 is 66 rounds of golf at St. Andrews. Or I can just invest it all in the stock market and kiss it all good bye.
I would donate $25,000 to an Augusta member's favorite charity to be his guest, and play the golf course
