Would You Rather
By mustang6560 on 4/5/12
Let's play a game I like to call "Would You Rather". It's similar to "Never Have I Ever", but instead of owning up to a mistake you made or admitting to embarrassing behavior, you have to pick between two separate realities. If presented correctly, both statements are equally awesome or equally awful. There is no wrong answer so don't be bashful. The true beauty of the game is in the reasoning behind your answer.

The last Masters-themed "Would You Rather" question was very one-sided. Nearly everyone took the cash in lieu of playing Augusta National, the Sunday before the Masters. I guess I overestimated the value a little. But, since it's Masters week, I thought I'd feature another Masters-themed question.

Would you rather:
A) Be a member of Augusta National Golf Club

-OR-

B) Build your own golf course?
I would choose to build my own golf course. Sure, it would be nice to be a part of the traditions of Augusta National, but given the opportunity I would love to start my own traditions at MY golf course.

Your turn.

Augusta. I'm too lazy to replace the broken sprinkler head in my front yard, let alone build an entire golf course.

If the golf course is all mine and someone maintains it for free i would take the golf course. otherwise Augusta all the way

My course. Sure ANGC membership would be great, but to have your own course would be way better.

If I can make it as great as I can dream off and play for free for life I'll take the course design over Augusta

I'll assume that the money angle of building & owning a course is taken care of (just like the membership fees & assessments at ANGC).

I am not sure I would have much in common with many of the Augusta members, other than we all would use the Men's room. As a member you would get to hang with the pro's for a week but I doubt many would become your buddy.

Owning your own course would allow one to select the membership or limit the users. The course would be where you live so there is no need to move. Naturally one would need a home close to the place. You could take a golf cart or bike to the club house.

On the whole, I would have to say build/own my own course would be my choice, although a membership at ANGC is certainly a nice 2nd choice.

I couldn't bear to be a member of a place as stuffy as ANGC. So I'd rather build my own course.

DougE says:
I would have my own. I would not give tee times out from 2 hours before until two hours after mine. Oh, since we are fantasizing, I would build it as an exact replica of Augusta. It would have hot cart girls who flirted with me. And host the LPGA Masters. Paula Creamer would be the honorary pro. Hey, it's my course and my fantasy, I can have it any way I want!

A membership to the original --- making your own isn't still the original.

Do like adding hot beer cart girls, though. ;)
