Tiger Woods Invited to Gleneagles
By mustang6560 on 8/16/11
It seems everyone but Tiger Woods thinks Tiger Woods needs to play more golf.
The latest person to speak up is Colin "Monty" Montgomerie. The former European Ryder Cup captain invited Tiger to play next week in Scotland at the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.
"I've asked him as I have invitations available," Montgomerie told the Daily Mirror. "We haven't had a reply yet. Tiger looks like he's going to have nowhere to play for nearly three months.Even though I already know the answer to the question, I hope Tiger takes Monty up on his offer. We all agree Tiger needs to play more and now he has an official invitation.
I think playing in Scotland next week would be good for him. He'll be less scrutinized than he would here in America, the field won't be quite as strong and it will potentially help stop the bleeding in terms of his Official World Golf Ranking. His ranking continues to plummet as he's now well outside the top 25 at No. 33, the same level as Matteo Manassero, Ernie Els, Miguel A. Jimenez and Darren Clarke.
I guess we'll have to wait and see...

and he'll say no.
less scrutinized? what!? have you paying attention to the news about what the tabloids do over in the UK?
dont be stupid tiger and play u need it
Go for it Tiger! Just let it flow.
This is actually really unfair to Tiger. Monty gets headlines for inviting him and Tiger looks bad for not playing (on a week when Tiger was NEVER going to play). We all agree he needs more rounds- but this is like an acquaintance inviting you to a birthday party on a weekend you had a vacation planned and then telling everyone at the party you may be coming. Not the best example... but I think you get what I'm saying.
That's a good point, Kick.

Really, there is a crapload of talent swimming sround out there that I'm happy to see in the occasional spotlight.
Nate I think it's funny how you keep hammering away at these Tiger posts. If I didn't know any better I'd think he is your favorite golfer. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
@beef- HA! I just think he really needs to get back in the action, and not THAT kind of action. The more time he spends at home away from competitive golf, the worse it is for him IMHO.
I do agree with Kick, it was a hallow invitation, but it was an invitation nonetheless.
