Tiger Woods: Pick Me, Pick Me
By mustang6560 on 8/22/11
In a rare post on TigerWoods.com, Tiger shared some of his thoughts regarding his recent performance at the PGA Championship and his plans for the rest of 2011.
It was nice to finally play in some tournaments and test out my left leg. Although I didn't play as well as I wanted to, I hit more solid shots than people might think and more importantly, I had no problems with my knee and Achilles tendon. Right now, I'm healthy. He admitted in his post that he wants to represent the United States in the Presidents Cup and hopes U.S. Captain Fred Couples will use one of the two captain picks on him. Couples admitted last week he'd like to pick Tiger, but said that Tiger must play more golf between now and the Presidents Cup in order to be selected.
...hopefully I'll get picked for the Presidents Cup team. I've had some conversations with U.S. captain Fred Couples, and we'll see how it goes. Of course, I want to be on the team.Tiger's next scheduled start isn't until the Australian Open on November 10, but to help his chances of being selected to the team, Tiger hinted that he is willing to play one of the Fall Series events on the PGA Tour and the WGC-HSBC Champions. If Tiger commits to both tournaments, he'll have three starts between now and the Presidents Cup, which should be enough to convince Freddie. For now, Tiger's next appearance will be at his friend's charity tournament, the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge, on August 31.
And Tiger provided some insight into what his new caddie will look like: "A person with a lot of experience, and a person I'll have fun with." Will that help the odds makers refine their numbers? Not likely. But, it effectively eliminates my chances...

No way in hell. The cat's got no game. Maybe next year IF he posts some top 3's.
Couples said he wanted TW..........
Maybe he should send in an audition tape...
Let's be straight here. President's cup is a fun exhibition event. It's not the honor roll and its not the Olympic games. So what if a player who has been struggling lately gets picked for the squad, it's not the end of the world. At the very least it is a player who has done a thing or two for golf in his career. And let's face it, these Cup challenges are big money events and Tiger Woods' presence/absence makes a huge impact-so of course he'll be there. If Rickie Fowler can get picked for Ryder Cup (a far bigger event) over a whole raft of more deserving players, then there's nothing wrong with the greatest player of this generation getting shown a little favoritism.
I enjoyed reading the post though, for those few little insights into Tiger's game and even the new shoes. I know I am in the minority but as I golfer I have tremendous respect for the man's golf-mind and whenever he is willing to open up a bit and talk shop, I am interested.
kurt the knife yeah u say tigers got no game............ thats all im saying
Beef: Agree 100%
Tiger makes the President's Cup a whole lot more interesting, win or lose. Those who don't agree should just look at the viewership numbers of the tourneys he plays in verses those he doesn't. I realize there are many who don't like him, but there is no denying he generates interest in the game.
i think they should pick Tiger to give the International team a chance. they've only won 1 of these things. give'm a chance to win another....jeez!
Does he deserve to be on the team? No. Should he be picked? Yes.
Beef is right, to me the presidents cup is just for fun. I dont think he would hurt their chances thats for sure.

Lol,I get it. Yeah, neither do I. I'm in good company.
Beef makes a good point, tho' He is a draw wherever he goes.
As opposed to me... I tend to scatter crowds.
Mickey Mouse tournament... !!!
now lets get back to whats truly important--putting the smack down on those filthy internationals.
