Dustin Johnson Delivers
By mustang6560 on 8/24/11
In a cheesy publicity stunt for TaylorMade, Dustin Johnson dressed up in FedEx delivery uniform and surprised the customer who purchased the one millionth R11 driver by delivering it himself.
Even though the whole event wreaked of sharp cheddar and smoked Gouda (see what I just did there?), TaylorMade gave the unspecting customer an actual R11 driver and an (extremely) limited edition, gold plated R11 driver. Only five exist in the world - how legit is that?
Last night, TaylorMade handed off golf’s version of the ‘Golden Ticket’, as TaylorMade Tour Staffer Dustin Johnson dressed up in a FedEx delivery uniform and literally delivered a FedEx shipment containing TaylorMade’s one millionth white metalwood to an unsuspecting golfer in Clifton, NJ, named Patrick Spina. This lucky golfer received the actual R11 driver he custom ordered last week and limited edition (only five in existance) gold-plated R11 (see attached image)I knew I liked Dustin for a reason. The fact he was willing to put on a FedEx delivery uniform and have some fun to benefit his sponsor is just the latest example. He seems to be down to earth and doesn't take himself too seriously. He's the kind of athlete/celebrity I would like to get a beer with.

He got two drivers. Nice, the one he ordered and the gold plated driver. Again, nice. Where is the pic of the gold plated R11?
It's hard to see, but it's in the picture above.
Wait. The guy just called Dustin stupid.
That guy looks really excited.
I see that gold plated driver showing up on eBay any moment now. Seriously, what the heck are you going to do with a gold plated driver, hang it on the wall?
I can visualize the scene 40 years from now:
"Grandpa, what is the gold golf club up on the wall? Did you win the China Open or some other major tournament?"
"No, Jimmy, I was the 1,000,000th customer to buy a white R11."
"So Grandpa, you like didn't do anything special to get it?"
"Nope, just the 1,000,000th golfer to shell out $500 (or 5,200,000 Yuan in today's money) for a golf club."
i'm with nickmomrik. that guy doesn't look impressed at all! hahah
will a pro deliver my knockoff R11 driver, my knockoff Taylor Made Ghost putter, or my knockoff Ping G15 fairway woods?
I'm sure he would love to have a beer with the guy that called him a dumb ass on a mega popular golf blog.
