Luke Donald To Defend Money List Title
By mustang6560 on 10/14/11
Luke Donald made it official, he will play the Fall Series Finale next week at the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic in an effort to defend his PGA Tour Money Title against Webb Simpson.
The Englishmen tweeted:
There was never really a decision to be made, I have a chance of making history. See you all at Disney next week #bringitonIt was rumored that Luke was considering a return to Disney next week to fend off Webb Simpson, who decided last minute to challenge the world number one's position at the top of the money list.
Webb finished the regular season less than $70k behind Luke on the PGA Tour money list, and instead of taking a much deserved break from golf, he decided to enter the McGladrey Classic in an attempt to get a top 15 finish and take the top spot on the money list. The title is worth playing for because the player who wins finishes first in the money list earns a five year exemption on the PGA Tour. Talk about job security!
I imagine regardless of Webb's finish at the Seaside Course, he'll opt to enter the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic next week. At this point, he's pot committed so he needs to go all in.
