The Friday Links
By mustang6560 on 10/14/11
With Andrew leaving and golf headed into slow season, we decided to try something new on oob. Instead of posting a few stories over the course of the day, we're going to post a daily round up of the most interesting golf stories and we're going to call it "The Links". Don't worry, The Wedge Guy, product reviews, guest columns and oobgolf giveaways aren't going anywhere. Your feedback is welcome.

Matt Kuchar Signs With Tiger's Management Group

Mark Steinberg, Tiger Woods' long time agent, added another high profile PGA Tour player to his client list ... Matt Kuchar.
“Matt already has cemented himself as one of golf's most elite competitors, and his accomplishments and accolades speak for themselves,” Steinberg said. “He has established himself as a dominant force and we look forward to helping elevate his profile around the world.”
Six months ago, Mark not only lost his job at IMG, but it also looked like he might lose his number one client, Tiger Woods. But, Tiger stood by his agent's side and the two moved to a new sports management company, Excel Sports Management. And now, it looks like he's picking up where he left off.

It's funny how things plays out sometimes.

Fitness Tip, Courtesy of Keegan Bradley

Now that the cooler months are upon us, it's extremely important to stretch before, during and after your round of golf to avoid back, shoulder and hip injuries.

Of all of the usual suspects, Keegan Bradley said he has the most trouble keeping his hips loose. So to help golfers around the world stay loose, the PGA Champion shared his favorite hip stretch with Roger Schiffman, Golf Digest's fitness expert.

NBA Lockout Is A Bummer

NBA Commissioner David Stern recently canceled the first two weeks of the NBA season in response to the continued lockout. And that has Tiger Woods bummed.
“Yeah, of course I'm bummed,” he said. “I think anybody who is an NBA fan is certainly bummed. I know that probably one person who is happy is probably Doc Rivers. I mean, with the age of his team, it's nice for them to only play half-a-season. It's true. It's a fact, come on.”
As a self proclaimed Lakers fan, I love Tiger's not so subtle jab at the Boston Celtics. He not only dissed the head coach, but he also dissed the entire team at the same time. Well done, sir.

Where You Golfing This Weekend?

I've got two tee times lined up for the weekend, the first at Colonial Country Club and the second at Deerfield. And from the looks of it, I should have beautiful weather - sunny with a high of 88 degrees.

Where you golfing this weekend?

Possibly Pierce Lake or Hudson Mills. The weather is supposed to be a high of 57 degrees with winds in the 25-30 mph range, gusting over 40 mph. Should be interesting. Time to get out the foul weather gear.

Sharp Park (A. McKenzie design) Never played it. I hear its condition is horrible. The weather will be cold and I'm so excited just to play with some old friends.
