Presidents Cup Trash Talking
By mustang6560 on 10/17/11
Greg Norman, the Presidents Cup International Team captain, fired off the first round of pre-tournament trash talking. The subject?
U.S. Team captain Fred Couples' captain's pick.
“I wouldn’t have (picked Woods),” Norman said during a press conference today to announce the field for the Shootout at host venue Tiburon Golf Club in North Naples. “I think Keegan Bradley was much more deserving.I'm not sure if the Shark intended for his comment about Freddie's captain's pick to be interpreted as trashing talking, but I hope Freddie made a mental note of it.
He has a chance to restore order to the world of golf by beating the International Team Down Under next month. With the top three spots in the Official World Golf Rankings owned by golfers from the United Kingdom and six of the top 10 from outside the United States, plus the fact that only two of the last eight major champions are American and Team Europe won the 2010 Ryder Cup, America's stature has fallen a little. But, the time has come to change our golf outlook and with at win at Royal Melbourne Golf Club, Freddie can get American golf back on track.
On a related note, Freddie might not be representing the U.S. as a player in Australia for the Presidents Cup, but the Champion Tour player proved he's still got game as he ran away with the AT&T Championship for a seven stroke victory! Well done, sir!

i know he's not 100%, but knocking tiger woods historically doesn't seem to work out well...ask stephen ames...different time though...
Norman is a loser. Tiger was a perfect 5-0 two years ago.
I dont see Freddie as the type of guy who would respond back. When was the last time the International Team won? oh ya 13 years ago.
Say what you will about Woods, but unlike a lot of other icons in the sport the guy has never publicly disparaged another man's golf game or personal life for that matter. I am ashamed to say it but this trash-talking has actually piqued my interest in the Cup somewhat. Because now I need to see Greg Norman get comeuppance for blathering on like a pompous idiot. He has it coming to him. It's not just this, I think also a few weeks back he talked some unwarranted, unnecessary shit about Tiger. Just another blowhard who thinks his status in the sport makes him some kind of mouthpiece of God.
Let's get it on!!!

And LegitimateBeef has illustrated part of the reason Mr. Norman made his comment: The Presidents Cup needs more publicity, because it will occur deep the heart of the American football season. And that's a shame because the stage is Royal Melbourne GC, one of the very greatest golf courses in the entire world and one that Norman knows quite well.
I suspect that neither Norman nor Tiger see this as an insult, because they both know that this could help sell tickets. IMHO, the more, the better.
Kurt the Knife says:
"Right, oy waddant o chyose Tigah fah the cahp, mate. Loik me mate dant bin meekin the cuts n all, loik. Now s'cuse me woil I go' n 'unt me sum crocodiles, mate."
God I hate it when I'm an unwitting pawn in a shameless publicity ploy.
Seriously though I don't think it's entirely calculated on the part of Greg Norman. I watched part of that interview with David Feherty (couldn't stomach the whole thing) and it is plain as day, the man is a serious heavyweight blowhard clearly in love with the sound of his own BS.
@beef- tell me how you really feel...
yea, what Kurt said.... um, what did Kurt say?
I'll be watching. I want to see how Tiger's game will respond to Greg's outbursts. although now definitely is the time for the internationals to win.
Torleif Sorenson says:
TeT: 1000 points.
Matt F says:
I'm an Aussie and even I don't know what Kurt said!
I'm from New England I and was able to decipher Kurt's hidden message, it's a secret though..................:p
