Tiger Woods Leads Down Under
By mustang6560 on 11/11/11
Is Tiger Woods back?
The former world number one carded his fifth straight round in the 60s and holds the 36-hole lead Down Under at the Australian Open. Tiger followed up his opening round 68 with a crowd pleasing five-under par 67 in the second round yesterday to take a one stroke lead heading into the weekend.
I know we are only halfway to the finish line, but Tiger is well on his way to quieting his critics. And if he gets it done, we owes Fred Couples a lot of the credit. The U.S. Team captain drew a lot of slack from the media - and golf world for that matter - for selecting Tiger with one of his captain's picks. Had Freddie not added Tiger to the roster, Tiger would not have gotten the extra practice (which he so badly needed) at the Frys.com Open where he shot 68 three days in a row. Before the Frys.com Open, the last time Tiger put together back to back rounds in the 60s was at the Farmers Insurance Open in January.
We'll have to wait and see. I know one thing though, I'll be tuning into The Golf Channel tonight and tomorrow night to catch some of the coverage!

I have watched a bit and Tiger's swing looks MUCH better - time will tell.
He'll be back when he wins. He'll be back in championship form when he strings a few wins together. Leading round one isn't back. Dominating all four rounds would show signs of life:-0. Looking forward to seeing if anything happens.
I hope he can keep it going for the President's Cup.
Matt F says:
Only took him 3 holes to lose the lead. 6 back from Senden and 5 back from Day.
Couples drew a lot of FLACK, people weren't cutting him any SLACK. I think you do this stuff on Porpoise to see if we're paying attention. Like, Where's Waldo.
Wow the best Aussie Open I ever saw. It's also the first one I ever saw, but still. The State of Tiger's Game, still the most interesting thing in golf for me. Thru the tournament his short game looked pretty sharp. Then again all around he looked decent, enough to win at least. The tourney was lost in the 3rd round. The guy has been having 3rd round issues going back to the Masters. But after the event saw a very upbeat Woody who's probably feeling confident about kicking some butt next week. And why not, today he was the vintage sunday Tiger.
he made too many mistakes to be vintage tiger. the driveable par 4 was a disaster for him that should have never happened.
