Greg Norman to WAGs: "Please Take Care of Them"
By mustang6560 on 11/17/11
Greg Norman, the International Team captain, understands the pressure of playing in the Presidents Cup. He has appeared in biennial event three times as a player and this is his second time as captain. So in order to help his team feel as relaxed as possible, Greg asked a favor of the WAGs (wives and girlfriends) of his players in attendance for the Presidents Cup.
@presidentscup tweeted:

Greg Norman gives the wives and girlfriends of his team one instruction, "please take care of them," this week.
I'll let your imagination read between the lines here ...

The International Team did look relaxed early in round one, but the Americans rallied late to take a 4-2 lead in the Presidents Cup. The most surprising result has to be the Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker versus Adam Scott and K.J. Choi match. The Americans were demolished 7&6 by the Internationals, and the loss ties the worst loss in the history of the event. Regardless of the drama surrounding Steve Williams, I thought - based on Tiger's performance at the Australian Open last week and their performance in the 2009 Presidents Cup - that Tiger and Steve were an unstoppable combination. So to not only lose, but lose in a historic fashion came as a shock. After all, they were supposed to anchor the U.S. side last night.

The round 2 matches were pushed up two hours due to weather forecasts (inclement weather). Coverage will start at 5:30 PM EST tonight on The Golf Channel so make sure you adjust accordingly. The lineups for the four-ball matches are very similar to the foursome matches. The only change on the American side is captain Fred Couples switched Matt Kuchar and Tiger Woods, so Tiger will play alongside Dustin Johnson against Aaron Baddeley and Jason Day, and Matt and Steve will go against Charl Schwartzel and Retief Goosen.

Mene, Mene, Tekel u-Pharsin - I think we are supposed to read between the lines, not read the writing on the wall.

I was only able to watch a few of the opening holes and it looked like Tiger was sharp but Steve Stricker was off. Were they both struggling or did Stricker somewhat weigh the team down?

@bkuehn1952- I really wanted to use that idiom today, but I guess you're right.

Like Burgess Meredith says to Stallone in "Rocky": women weaken legs. Whatever the case, I'm finding out through this event how obnoxious Greg Norman is.

@bkuehn: Stricker was very rusty and made some key errors. Even on simple wedge shots the distance control wasn't good. Woods was not that sharp, OK but def. not inspired. Choi was solid and Adam Scott played very well.
