Mark Wilson Wins Humana Challenge
By mustang6560 on 1/23/12
We knew the winner of the Humana Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation was going to go low at PGA West and that’s exactly what Mark Wilson did. Mark posted a four round total of 264 or 24-under par to win the revamped Bob Hope Classic by two strokes over Johnson Wagner, John Mallinger and Robert Garrigus.
"Robert and I, going back and forth, we really enjoyed that," Wilson said. "It just came down to 18, and I didn't want to give him a chance to make that putt to tie me. ... That's what we play for. You want somebody to win it, not necessarily to lose it."It seems Mark is a first quarter kind of player. He has five career wins on the PGA Tour but they all have come in the first part of the year. He won two times in the first two months last year but was relatively quiet after that. He missed the cut in the first two majors of 2011 and failed to break into the top 25 of the last two. Who knows, maybe Mark can find the winning recipe in 2012 and make a legitimate run at one of the majors, or any tournament after March.
In oobgolf related news, anyone notice our boy Charlie “CBeljan” Beljan made the cut at the Humana Challenge? I’m impressed that he made the cut in only his second start on the PGA Tour. For his efforts, he earned a cool $10k and some change. Congrats, Charlie!

Charlie can bring it off the tee. He is averaging around 313 yards.
I wish I could earn $10K for playing golf. Must be nice!
