Tiger Woods: "Only Mild Strain"
By mustang6560 on 3/13/12
In case you weren't tuned into Golf Central on The Golf Channel or Sports Center on ESPN last night, Tiger Woods updated the golf world on his Achilles injury via Twitter and the prognosis looks promising.
Got good news from doc tonight. Only mild strain of left Achilles. Can resume hitting balls late in week and hopeful for next week.If I had Tiger's ear, I'd tell him to forget the Tavistock Cup, forget the Arnold Palmer Invitational and forget the Shell Houston Open, the only tournament that matters in the near future is the Masters. Then I'd remind him that he is in the waning years of his career and his body is fragile so don't waste it on tournaments that don't matter (no offense Arnie). If you want to pass Jack Nicklaus' mark of 18 major victories, then your focus needs to be on the majors and only the majors. You already have enough PGA Tour trophies to fit in the trophy cases of many men.
The good news is my hopes of a Rory McIlroy-Tiger Woods Sunday pairing at the Masters still looks promising.

Kurt the Knife says:
hmmm. What really is his "Achilles Heel"?
I wouldn't normally expect something so metaphorical to become so literal.
Achilles injuries hurt like hell, and take time to heal. I was a freshman in high school when I had mine, and it still flares up every once in a while. You can't flex your foot at all. I can't even imagine trying to swing a golf club with that type of injury.
He should wait until there is absolutely no pain before doing anything more than putting. He'll just be delaying the healing process if he does.
