TaylorMade To Introduce RBZ Hockey Stick
By mustang6560 on 3/14/12
TaylorMade, the makers of the RocketBallz family of clubs, is no longer just a golf company. The equipment giant announced its plan to further the success of its RocketBallz brand into the hockey realm by partnering with Reebok-CCM to introduce the RBZ hockey stick.
While details of the stick technology are not clear and both Reebok-CCM and TaylorMade are not saying much about what the stick does, the idea seems to be about increasing the potential for creating speed, presumably of the stick itself and in turn, the puck. The stick, including the blade, is all white, just like TaylorMade's current product line of drivers, including the RocketBallz and RocketBallz Tour, as well as the RocketBallz fairway wood and hybrid. Two NHL rookies, Gabriel Landeskog of the Colorado Avalanche and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of the Edmonton Oilers, are already using the RBZ hockey stick, but it won't be available to the public until late summer-early fall 2012.
Luckily for the hockey world, the hockey stick will be branded as "RBZ" instead of "RocketBallz" since there are no balls in hockey. There is something just fundamentally wrong, in my opinion, with the words "rocket" and "balls" (with a "z" nonetheless) being used together to describe a model of clubs. Do me a favor, say the following out loud five times in a row: "I play RocketBallz irons". Does the double "s" sound not bother you?

I have an idea let's give all this Rocketballz talk a rest for a little while.
Duke of Hazards says:
The truth is, no matter how many times Taylormade throws the name "Rocketballz" out there to de-sensitive the masses to how RIDICULOUS that name is, they will not overcome the fact that some marketing guy made up a joke and passed it along through the ranks, and no one else took their job seriously enough to think twice about how ABSURD that name is.
Boo to Taylormade for producing what may be an excellent product and then basically suggesting that the majority of golfers have so little pride in themselves that they would carry around something called a "Rocketballz" on the suggestion that it might give them a few more yards.
Line extension is the first banking turn in the death spiral of apex brands. The king is dead. Long live the king's ballz.

Is it possible this is a very elaborate april fools joke? I mean it is coming out on april 1st.....
@mwfaith, Golf Channel talks about football and all the other stupid sports that aren't golf, so i guess that leaves us free to follow suit.......
Matt F says:
