The Tavistock Cup. The two-day made-for-TV golf exhibition, which features 24 of the best golfers in the world from four of the most exclusive prestigious golf clubs in the world. I've yet to formulate an opinion about the tournament.

I digress.

The reason I mentioned the elitist friendly event is to highlight one thing - Tiger Woods is in the field representing Team Albany (last year he was on Team Isleworth). I was surprised the former world number one agreed to play the event, especially after he withdrew from the WGC-Cadillac Championship in the middle of the final round due to his left Achilles tendon. It turned out it was only a mild strain so Tiger's doctor gave him a green light to play. Tiger described his decision to withdraw as "the right thing" to do.
"That's what happened last year, and I missed two major championships because of it," Woods said. "So I just want to be ready for Augusta, hence I'm out here having fun and all's going good.

"I have to do the right thing. Unfortunately there are times when, yeah, I have played through some things that I probably shouldn't have. That's cost me a little bit. I've been sidelined for months at a time because of it. For the first time, I did the right thing. Hence, I'm back in a week, whereas ... I could have been out for a little bit longer."
Still, the Masters is only two weeks away and playing seven straight days of golf (two at Tavistock, Pro-Am and four rounds at Arnold Palmer Invitational) is a lot of golf, even for a physically fit golfer. But, who am I to judge? Tiger is a grown man and he is ultimately responsible for his own decisions.

So far so good, though. From the reports I've read from Lake Nona, Tiger seems to be in solid form and is not favoring his left leg. He even laughed at David Feherty's brief roasting on the first tee. He and his playing partner, Justin Rose, finished at 9-under par yesterday in the better-ball stroke play to help put Team Albany in position to win the Tavistock Cup. I'm not sure if you're interested but he is in Group 6, along with Sean O'Hair, Graeme McDowell and Thomas Bjorn, and the foursome in set to tee off in the next little while.

Yawn. Hard to get excited about this exhibition.

As they said on the Golf Channel this morning, the best part about the Tavistock is not the golf, it's the fact that for one event, Feherty and McCord are let loose to do whatever they wish. Last year they had a bunch of Audis parked next to a green, and McCord hopped in one and started driving around. This year McCord is on a segway (sp?), and Feherty is roasting the guys on the first tee. it's funa s long as you realize it's not serious. And it has generated $7 millions dollars for charity in its short life.

meh. just proves last week was a case of 3-over-through-12'eritis.

Tiger quit. He was out of contention. Lost interest. He's not interested in grinding it out for a top ten finish. He certainly doesn't need the money.

What I want to know is when are his Nike Feel Golf shoes coming out? I have the regular shoes, two pair actually and I love them would probably love the golf shoe. I am thinking they might introduce them when he has an official tour win, perhaps?

*meant to write Nike Free not Feel...
