Sun Young Yoo Wins Kraft Nabisco Championship

The golf gods can be cruel.

I played golf on Sunday at my home course, a course I am very familiar with, and it was a very humbling experience. There were moments during my round, especially on the back nine, where it felt like it was my first time on the golf course. Four triple bogeys later, after my final putt dropped on 18 I was just happy my round was over.

But the misery I suffered through Sunday pales in comparison to the misery I.K. Kim suffered on the 72nd hold of the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
I.K. Kim raised her left hand to her mouth and turned her head away, unwilling to look at what just happened at her feet. Fans at Mission Hills gasped, groaned and screamed in a chorus of shared pain.

With a major championship resting on a 1-foot putt, Kim had just lived every golfer's nightmare.

She had done the unthinkable. She had missed the unmissable.
My heart sank last night when I.K. missed her par putt on 18. She managed to play so well down the stretch on Sunday that nobody could have imagined an outcome where Sun Young Yoo wins - not even Sun Young Yoo. A win is a win though and Sun Young Yoo capitalized on the misfortunes of I.K. so I must congratulate her on her first major victory.

Hopefully I.K. can rebound like Rory McIlroy did last year after the Masters to win the next major (U.S. Open) in a dominating fashion.

This is why its wrong to give yourself putts IMO. Even pro's can miss one footers.

I like how everyone's focused on the missed putt. Otherwise it be about how the Koreans and Asians took over another tournament. Seriously it's gotten crazy out there. Half those girls are sporting corporate logos spelled out in various Asian languages which suggests the majority of viewing is happening abroad. It's like these Asian companies are scoffing at us, at our market, they don't even care if we know their companies' name or not. Personally I was pulling for Hee Kyung Seo. well not literally although she is kinda cute.
