Customize Your Driver Color
By mustang6560 on 4/11/12
TaylorMade popularized the white driver.

Cobra is trying to popularize the orange driver.

Ping hopes to popularize the pink driver.

And Callaway, well, it wants to popularize all of the above driver colors and more.
Golfers can now go to and create a customized Callaway RAZR Fit driver, choosing from one of four lofts and eight colors.

But the personalization doesn’t stop there. Using udesign, you'll also be able to choose from more than 100 customized shaft options, in lengths ranging from 2 inches longer than standard to 2 inches shorter than standard. You can pick any of the 24 different grips currently available and have up to eight wraps of tape added underneath the grip.
I suddenly feel as though my driver, with its traditional black crown, is no longer adequate.

I am only in my mid-20s, but I am very much a golf traditionalist. I think it's cool for golfers like Bubba Watson, Hunter Mahan and Rickie Fowler to express their individuality with bright colors, however, you won't see me with a pink or orange driver any time soon.

"I suddenly feel as though my driver, with its traditional black crown, is no longer adequate." How long until its not available?

@TeT- Now.

I have a driver with a royal blue metallic crown. That's about as customized as I'll get unless I start hitting shots like Bubba. Then I'll consider it.

its only the bottom? lame.

The color things is gimmicky. The ability to order with different shaft lengths is a great option, though one that is available through just about everyone.

The only color I care to see is the color of the ball in the color of fairway. I need to customize my driver swing.

Club manufacturers take note, you are not fooling the likes of Nathan with these cute colors.

Who has the avatar with the Eddie Van Halen driver? Thats what I call cool. White drivers are okay, but inevitably black will make a comeback and people will be all "Wow, the black color really makes it easy to line up the face!".
Trip says:
As cool as my avatar is, I could never play with that. I just found the image on google. I actually like the new Cleveland classic looking driver, I was hoping that would usher in some classic looking equipment... By the way, just saw Van Halen for the second time on this tour last night, my ears are still ringing, awesome...

It's only a matter of time until they put NCAA and NFL logos on the bottom or top of the driver.

Regarding the Callaway club, aside from the color choices, which isn't really all that bad of an idea I guess, I do like the additional shaft and grip options idea.
mmontisano says:
black crowns weren't always the norm. my first driver and metal woods were just plain polished raw steel, like the new Cobra Amp driver.
