Prior to the U.S. Open, Beau Hossler was just a regular high school student with a knack for golf. But, following his T29 finish at The Olympic Club, he became a golf hero overnight for double-digit handicaps everywhere.
His performance at The Olympic Club even caught the eye of Tiger Woods, who invited the 17-year-old amateur to compete in the AT&T National this week. "That was pretty special, because it was really late notice and I wasn't really expecting it," Hossler said Tuesday. "But to be able to be here is quite a blessing."After briefly holding the lead in the U.S. Open and being invited to play golf by Tiger Woods, I imagine it's going to be really hard for Hossler to go back to being a regular high school golfer this fall. Hopefully, his parents and his close friends keep him humble so he doesn't peak as a teenager golfer. Hossler is currently E thru 11 holes, which puts him in a 10-way tie for ninth place. It's only Thursday, but who knows, maybe he can make a little more noise at Congressional. read more Image via Flickr, Keith Allison Did I miss something?
