The new Ping Anser Driver
By mustang6560 on 7/11/12
Say hello to the new Ping Anser driver, the first adjustable driver from the Arizona-based OEM.
The new Ping Anser driver is designed to offer more precise fitting options that focus on dialing in the proper loft. The driver comes in four standard lofts (8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 12 degrees), but each is adjustable by one-half degree in either direction. The black matte finish head is 460 cubic centimeters, and is expected to hit golf shops by mid-August. The club was added to the U.S. Golf Association's list of conforming driver heads this week.I guess Ping realized that the adjustable driver fad is not going anywhere anytime soon, so as old saying goes, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em."
Ping released the Anser this week on both the PGA and European tours, but it won't be available in stores until next month. Anyone in the market for an adjustable driver?

I'm always interested in trying out a new driver, just send it to me, you have my address.
Does it sound like th submarine sonar you hear in movies when you hit it?
Looks like the driver (the Christian Bale version) Batman would use.

or Darth Vader
PING was adamant that they would never come out with an adjustable driver because they said it adds weight in all the wrong places. plus with their extensive fitting system, you're going to get what you need if you take the time get properly fit.

@badcaddy- apparently the bean counters felt otherwise
you're right. and I'm a little sad about it. the last holdout is now Cleveland.
@mjaber - Give me a ping, Vasili. One ping only, please.
Screw all this, let's go back to simple persimon heads with lead tape.
@Duke - as a bean counter, trust me, this was driven by the sales and marketing guys, not finance. I'm not sure how the companies win in the end - in the past I'm sure some people bought multiple drivers and now they just adjust the one.
Wow, it looks sharp. Truthfully though, my drive is too inconsistent to be sold on this tuning concept. Maybe next year. For now, I'd rather spend half the money and get lessons.
It looks like Darth Vader's driver.

Knowing Ping, it probably still has limited / crappy shaft offerings...
@GBogey our sales guys are always coming to us with all kinds of ideas. we engineers have to be the ones to say "slow your roll" a lot hehe
