Who is favored to win the Open Championship?
By mustang6560 on 7/16/12
The betting favorite for the 141st edition of the Open Championship is ... Tiger Woods (surprise, surprise). As a 14-time major champion including three British Opens, it's hard not to list him as the favorite to win. Plus, according to some, he's playing the best golf of anyone on the PGA or European tours at the moment.

If you were a betting man (or woman) and you lived in a country where betting was socially acceptable (like the UK), who would you bet on to win the Open Championship? For those of you who don't live in a place like the one I described above, who do you think will win?

In case you don't remember, I'm rooting for Luke Donald. The reason is because he's too talented to So far I'm 0-2 in 2012 supporting the Englishman, but I'm going to stick to my decision to support him.

The Open Championship Odds, according to Ladbrokes

Tiger Woods 8/1

Lee Westwood 16/1

i'll take Graeme this week. He's my wife's favorite golfer, and truthfully, i don't care who comes out on top - i just wanna watch a lot of golf!!!

Nate the cool people don't call it "British Open" fyi.

Woods is an obvious favorite with the three wins this year and also due for winning a big one. I like Harrington's chances better than Donald for besides the obvious reasons he has shown some decent form lately. Plus I would give Els better odds than Fowler, Kuchar, Poulter etc. Other than those three the field seems pretty level IMO, ie I would call it equal odds for all those dudes.

@legitimatebeef- There are a lot of *uncool* people.

Phil. he's finally learned to embrace the erratic weather and to actually use his creativity around the greens.

In my fantasy league, I have Sergio, Bubba, Westwood and Padraig as my starting fantasy lineup with Luke Donald, Ian Poulter, Tiger and McDowell waiting on my bench to be called in if any of the starters don't look like they are playing well. Even so, my money is on Tiger. He usually doesn't start like gangbusters, which is why he is on my bench for the first round, but I expect to be bringing him in for the second round, through to the final round. Any of you guys in the Yahoo Fantasy League?

Who I think will win and who I would bet on are 2 different questions (assuming I lived in a country where doing what I please with money I earned was considered acceptable). Which one do you want answered?

I think tiger will win but never will bet on him with crappy 8/1 odds. I think there is some value at the bottom of the list (Paul Lawrie, Freddy Jacobason). I like Kouch at 40/1.

But again my government doesn't think I should be able to spend my hard earned money in a form that I please that does no harm to anyone else. So I guess Tiger is my pick.

I have A. Scott, Tiger, G. McDowell, and Padraig starting on my fantasy team. I think Tiger is long overdue to post another W in the major column. We'll see.

I picked Matt Kuchar in one of the "pick the winnder" contests. Seems as good a pick as any.
joe jones says:
Lee Westwood. He is one of the top drivers in the world and he likes the slower greens. It,s his time.
GBogey says:
I'm thinking another first time winner - Westwood, Fowler, or Garcia, maybe Rose. Then Tiger wins PGA.
billbadaz says:
westwood, Adam Scott, Mahan, or any of the 66-1 or highers I will have 10$ on. 120 invested and Lee gets me back 160 minimum, Mahan and Scott, $400...

Cabera-Bello or whatever his name is has been playing well too
