Two of Northern Ireland's native sons
"Don't expect anything imminent, that's for sure"

Despite its brilliant audition during the Irish Open, R&A boss Peter Dawson said Royal Portrush will have to continue to wait for an opportunity to host The Open Championship.
"There would be much work to do for an Open to go to Portrush," R&A chief executive Peter Dawson told reporters on the eve of the 141st edition of golf's oldest major.

"Our championship committee will, I'm sure, continue to evaluate it but don't expect anything imminent, that's for sure."
Unlike the other three majors, the Open Championship rotates between nine courses in Scotland and England and it's impossible difficult to get added to the rota. And it will be especially difficult for Royal Portrush to get added because it's in Northern Ireland and The Open doesn't leave the island of Great Britain very often. But, hopefully Peter Dawson and his team can work with the folks in County Antrim so The Open can return to the home country of Northern Ireland soon.

What IS it with some of these Brits who have certain decision-making powers? This is the same mentality that caused Georg Friedrich Händel's "Gloria" (ca. 1709) to lay in the stacks at the Royal Academy of Music, going unverified and unperformed for almost 300 years.

Lee Trevino famously joked about the "bluebloods" at the USGA (can of dandruff and all), but his joke might now be better-directed at the R&A's Open Championship committee(s). Get a clue, gentlemen!

@Banker85: I did not think you were old enough to know "Gloria" or who Van Morrison is. Well done!

Laura Branigan did a song called Gloria also. I thought she had the greatest voice, but I never heard anything from her after Gloria.
