Why you shouldn't use a golf club to rob a bank

I know there is not a "How To Rob A Convenience Store For Dummies" book, but if there was, I'm pretty sure a golf club would not be listed as a recommended weapon.

A Connecticut man who tried to rob a Grand Union supermarket with a golf club is facing robbery, menacing and drug charges, authorities said.

Police charged Stephen J. Lynehan, 33, of Sharon, Conn. with third-degree attempted robbery, a felony, and second-degree menacing and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office said in a written release.

Lynehan entered the store on Route 44 in the town Saturday at 7:20 p.m. and demanded money, while threatening a clerk with a golf club, the Sheriff’s Office said.

He left the store – without getting any money – and sheriff’s deputies and Village of Millerton police officers found him nearby.

Not only did he fail to walk away with any cash, he was almost immediately arrested. While I'm glad this idiot failed to successfully rob the supermarket and nobody was hurt in the process, I almost feel bad for him.

I've always said society should be thankful that criminals are ~~stupid~~ intelligently challenged. If they weren't, we'd be in a whole helluva lot of trouble.

Lynehan probably deserves to be force-fed a box of corn starch, then duct-taped to a yardage sign 100 yards away from the practice tees, and used for target practice.
