More European vice-captains named

José María Olazábal isn't the only European team captain who is preparing for international match-play competition.
The 13th Solheim Cup matches in Parker, Colorado are now slightly less than a year away. On Tuesday, European captain Liselotte Neumann named Annika Sorenstam and Carin Koch as her two vice-captains, in part because of their Solheim Cup experience.
Koch played in four Solheim Cups (2000, 2002, 2003, and 2005), posting an admirable 10-3-3 record over 16 total matches. She also captained the European team for the 2009 PING Junior Solheim Cup, which was won by the U.S. team at Aurora CC outside Chicago.
Annika Sorenstam was probably the easiest choice for Neumann; during her Hall-of-Fame playing career, Sorenstam won 72 LPGA events, including ten majors. In eight Solheim Cup events, she went 22-11-4.
Neumann herself has been no slouch on the course; she won 25 professional events, including 12 LPGA tournaments and the 1988 U.S. Women's Open at Baltimore CC. In six Solheim Cups, however, Neumann went 6-10-5.
Given the potential opportunity to help women and girls you know become interested (or more interested) in the game, now might be a good time to plan to attend. :)
