Tiger Woods found a new title sponsor for his annual World Challenge — Northwestern Mutual.
The Tiger Woods Foundation welcomes Northwestern Mutual as the new presenting sponsor of the 14th annual World Challenge, to be held Nov. 28-Dec. 2 at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The elite 18-player field will include 13 members from this year's Ryder Cup teams, the winner of the Masters at Augusta, the U.S. Open champion and the 2012 FedExCup champion. The field includes Keegan Bradley, Jason Dufner, Jim Furyk, Dustin Johnson, Zach Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Webb Simpson, Brandt Snedeker, Steve Stricker and Bubba Watson. Also participating are European Ryder Cup standouts Ian Poulter and Graeme McDowell, along with Jason Day, Rickie Fowler, Hunter Mahan, Bo Van Pelt and Nick Watney.
The Northwestern Mutual World Challenge is important to Mr. Woods not only because it's a fundraiser for his charity but it's also the place where he defeated Zach Johnson to end his winless drought and official start his comeback. But I don't know if he'll be able to defend his title at his own event because the 18-player field is strong. It's easy to attract top players when you have world ranking points on the line.

Duke of Hazards says:
attended this the last 3 years. last year they had planes buzzing around overhead with banners blasting Chevron for their Ecuadorian toxic waste transgressions. at least the tourney didn't go back to Target and that goofy ass trophy with the tiger and the globe.
Torleif Sorenson says:
DoH: Excellent point. I hope this year's event isn't ruined by a bunch of nut-cases advertising themselves as "Occupy Sherwood."
