Arnold Palmer: Rory McIlroy better not skip my tournament!

Rory McIlroy, along with Tiger Woods, was criticized for skipping the HSBC Champions this week.

Despite an unhappy sponsor, neither Rory nor Tiger will face any real consequences for their decision to bypass Mission Hills. But Rory better be careful before he decides to skip any more tournaments — like the Arnold Palmer Invitational — or he may face a painful consequence.
World No. 1 Rory McIlroy has never played the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

And if he decides against teeing it up again in March, there might be some repercussions – from The King himself.

Appearing Thursday on "Morning Drive," Palmer joked, "I'm going to tell you something: If (McIlroy) doesn't come and play Bay Hill, he might have a broken arm and he won't have to worry about where he's going to play next."
Oh, Arnie. You're so silly. You'd never break the arm of the number one player in the world. But, seriously, you're joking right? Rory, I can't tell if he's joking or not so you better just plan to play next March. I know he's 83 now but let's not test The King's follow through.

Torleif Sorenson says:
Mr. Palmer's tournament is, like Quail Hollow and the Memorial, one of the most important non-majors on the PGA Tour. I cannot think of any pro golfer that would deliberately bypass Bay Hill, but it was worth a few laughs.
