Weekend Update: Beljan drama at Disney
By Torleif Sorenson on 11/10/12
It was the best of times, it was (almost) the worst of times.
PGA Tour player and former oober Charlie Beljan battled through light-headedness and a probable anxiety attack to shoot 64 and take a four-shot lead at the PGA Tour's annual DisneyWorld stop in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
"That was probably the hardest day of my life," said Beljan, who got only an hour of sleep and actually slept with his golf shoes on. "The end result was that they think that everything was OK. That’s why I'm here today."Against his doctors' advice, Beljan is back on the course today in his attempt to secure his PGA Tour playing privileges for 2013. But as of 11:53 a.m. EST, Beljan has slipped from a four-shot lead to T3 with at least two bogeys on Disney's Magnolia Course. (Scott Stallings and Charlie Wi are tied at -11.)
I admit that I am pulling for our former fellow oober to hang on and play well enough to secure his 2013 card - if not win the Disney tournament outright.
Television coverage of the event today and tomorrow is on the Golf Channel. Stay tuned, oobers...

He doesn't need to enter scores on the oob--he gets his stats on PGATOUR.com now a days. To his credit though he has scores entered from Tour rounds up to June of this year.
This could be a big win for him, not just for the win but the big story and notoriety to go along with it. He might have come off like a tool during those twitter gaffes but being interviewed after these rounds he seems likeable enough.
Matt F says:
As of this morning he is hanging on to a 2 shot lead at -13.
