Troops on the tees

The Arizona-based golf management firm Troon announced yesterday that they are beginning a year-round discount program:
"Troon's Troops," which will provide significant discounts at more than four dozen daily-fee and resort courses managed by the company in 20 states and Puerto Rico. Active-duty and severely injured U.S. combat veterans will receive up to 50% off the standard fees at Troon courses, along with discounts on rental clubs, golf shop merchandise, and participating restaurants.
Meanwhile, the next big Tee It Up For the Troops event is a three-day gathering at the Reunion Resort & Club in Florida. January 3 through the 5th. This is intended as a mid-winter getaway and networking event, and is priced as such - $1000/golfer or $4000/foursome. This will include lodging, meals, and access to all three of the resort's private courses, one each designed by Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, and Jack Nicklaus.
