Golf on the holidays?
By Torleif Sorenson on 12/31/12
OK, oobers, here's your chance to make Tor envious.

If you played golf on Christmas Eve and/or Christmas Day, spill the beans. The rest of us want to read about it. And if you've already played today, or if you're playing later today or on New Year's Day, we want to know about that, too.

Tell us which course you played and on which day. It doesn't matter if you didn't break 80, 90, or 100. Honest. This is your chance to trumpet this fact to the world.

Fess up. Gloat. Rub it in. Just do it.

Make Tor turn as green (with envy) as the fairways at Augusta National.

My last round was on Christmas Eve. It was a good one too, a five over par 76 at a chilly Dyker Beach GC in Brooklyn. You can see the card here. Not much in a gloating mood though because we are now in the thick of winter. Just feel fortunate to have gotten in one last good round before the Ice Age starts.

Played on Dec 23rd at home course, Falcon Golf course, Cape Cod, Snow has wiped out this year. Did play on both Xmas eve and New Years eve last year (2011) same course

Also played the 23rd. It snowed here on Xmas eve so the course wasn't open or I would have played likely played then too. Two days later, we got another 10 inches of that friggin' white crap. Golf is over here in CT for a couple-few months. Dec. 23rd was my 143rd round this year. I guess I shouldn't complain. Have my sights set on 5 or 6 rounds in FL in Feb. Hope I can remember how to hit the ball. That seems like a long way off.

Played 18 holes today and playing at least 18 holes again tomorrow. Live in New Mexico, but 45-degrees with 15-20 mph winds is darn cold for us! Mountains are full of snow. Kind of a pretty sight to watch your ball fly into snow covered mountains from a green oasis in the desert!

Came back from a week of R&R in Hawaii (Kauai), and played there 4 times, 3 times on the Makai course and once one the Prince course (the day after Christmas I believe), all with rental clubs. The Prince course was awesome, and brutal, and did I mention awesome? I shot 110, lost 6 balls and didn't care in the least! A first class operation all the way... :) The Makai course wasn't too bad either with some great views and hole designs, but the Prince course was something else altogether.

No golf in NE due to snow, but I was far from alone at the range yesterday under heaters hitting balls out onto the snow. Only 2 months until March is the current mantra!

I walked part of our local course ... in 8 inches of snow. They are performing a masssive earthmoving project to improve water quality (reduced sediment) from streams flowing into the Huron River. All the work is supposed to be done by 4/1/2013. Right now it is hard to see what it will look like with all the snow and mud but I am hopeful the changes will make for a better looking and playing course.

Played Boxing day with the wife, cold day but we both played the par 3 with good scores.
Played Wavendon 18 Holes today (01/01/2013), my playing partner off snowboarding somewhere, queue on the first tee so I joined a couple to make a three. Played my best game for a while, total of 101, so close to my all time best, the 17th let me down on a sub 100, next time...

Brian, you're a brave man. :) I hope the modifications are a complete success.

@golfingbumunderpar64: What's it like in July and August? Is it so hot that people have to scrape you off the sidewalk with a squeezee? :-P

golfingbumunderpar64 says:
Well the weather was awesome. 64 cloudy with no wind. Score wasn't a record breaker but. 73 ain't bad. Torleif haha we call those people pansies. But I've lived in the south all my life. I love the heat. Plus The hotter it is the less the southern belles wear at the pool. :)

My hats off to the northern folks. How in the world do y'all go that long without playing golf?

Managed a round at my home course The Lakes 18 at Kelab Rahman Putra Malaysia - played with a new friend from my home town - could not break 90 but had a decent 94 with only 4 pars.
Over here there is no winter so no snow but is now the rainy season so rains almost daily usually in the afternoon so we still can get to play in the morning except that most courses over this part of the world are very wet and soggy now.

@simivan: I looked at the website for Kelab Rahman Putra Malaysia: $25 CAD for brecky+golf+cart!? Sweet! Course looks terrific online. I suppose it's inexpensive to live-eat-drink too. Some guys know how to live!

KtK: Y'know what? I feel happy for you, not jealous. I finally acquired a vehicle on Monday - five long years without a car - it sucked. Have a nice time at Ka'anpali.

PPinkert: If you have ever played the Rawls Course at Texas Tech, I'd like to hear about it. Message me privately.

I played on December 30th in typhoon like weather in Okinawa Japan. That was lots of fun to watch how far the wind could blow the ball OB, and the temperature was above 60 degrees.
