"I don't like to eat"
By mustang6560 on 1/4/13
Charlie Beljan, the oober-turned-PGA-Tour-champion, is enjoying the fruits of his labor — he's competing in the season opening Hyundai Tournament of Champions (don't forget to enter the giveaway).

The Arizona-native was on the verge of returning to the Web.com Tour, however, a victory in the final event of the Fall Series last year extended his PGA Tour card another two years. The impressive thing about Charlie's victory was he managed to get around the golf course despite suffering a panic attack.

As it turns out, the panic attack he suffered during the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic may have been related to a lack of proper nourishment. Charlie confirmed Jason Sobel's report that he hadn't eaten anything for 20 hours prior to his Saturday tee time.
"I don't like to eat," he said. "I don't like food. I wish I could swallow a few pills every morning and not have to chew on anything the rest of the day. Since I've been a kid, I'm not a food fan. I've eaten the same Subway sandwich five days a week for the last eight years and haven't changed it, and I'm not willing to try.

"We went to a luau last night," Beljan continued, "which was wonderful, and they had a five‑course meal and I didn't take a bite of any of it because I wasn't willing to try it."
At 6'4", 215 pounds, Charlie Beljan is large individual. I've never shared a meal with the him, however, I never would've accused him of skipping a meal or two.

Perhaps he just likes to drink?

this dude has some problems. Hope he gets them sorted.
Torleif Sorenson says:
Having a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour should make sorting out his problems a bit easier...

Quite an endorsement for Subway, they ought to sign Charlie up don't you think. "I don't like food. But when I am forced to eat it, I go for Subway!" Very bizarre story. How'd he get so big? He certainly does look like he enjoys his food. Sounds like he might suffer from anhedonia. Got to be some kind of mental illness afoot. For any living thing, finding food distasteful has got to be a detriment to survival. Also I find it weird that PGA TOUR golfers are out there competing under the influence of Xanax. That is powerful stuff, so where's the uproar?

"I've eaten the same Subway sandwich five days a week for the last eight years" ahh does he just skip 2 days a week of eating all together or splurge and round up some Arbys.

Don't know how a professional athlete on any level can continue to compete w/o some kind of nutrition plan or nutrition period...as noted earlier, he apparently has some deeper issues.

Imagine the Champions Dinner if Charlie were to ever win the MASTERS

This guy is a bit weird but a very good player. But how many of y'all out there would turn down a 16oz steak cooked just right with a baked potato and all the fixings? Hardly any of y'all unless your one of those veggien people that don't eat meat. I just don't see how you can do that to your body. .
Toothid: that's funny as hell

Pressure to make the money list are not likely to make things easier.

Nice. Charlie's T6 thru 14 @-2. Nerves or not, the cat is swingin.

Beef brings up an interesting point regarding drug use. I mean, EPO is banned from sport as perfomance enhancer. If you can take a pill to shake off anxiety, wouldn't that enhance performance also?

Things that make ya say... Hmmmmmm
