Golf Not Top 10 Nominee: Phil Mickelson
By mustang6560 on 2/11/13
Two weeks ago, I nominated Phil Mickelson's birdie putt on the seventh hole of the Waste Management Phoenix Open for the Shot of the Year. The putt, and more importantly the timing of the putt, was incredible. It was easily the turning point of the final round and it held a surging Brandt Snedeker at bay. I'm here today to nominate Phil Mickelson again, expect this time it's not for the highlight reel — it's for the lowlight reel.
In the third round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Lefty hit a wayward tee shot on the 18th that ended up in the Pacific Ocean. Phil decided to go after his golf ball and it didn't end well. As he made his way down to the water, he slipped and fell on his backside (ouch!). I will say, he handled the fall well. He quickly stood up, didn't show any hint of pain and continued to look for his golf ball.

Pretty good on Phil's part not to quickly look around to see who was watching. That is something I do following every idiotic action I take. Of course, Phil knew the entire World was watching (okay a small percentage of the golf World) and it was going to be on video. Still, he did a great job of having no reaction

"I meant to do that."

He was asking for it.
His fat wallet cushioned his fall! :)
Btw, what is equally bad is that he put his next shot (his third after the drop) into the ocean as well, near the green, so he reloaded from the same spot, hitting his fifth and ended up with an 8!
Duke of Hazards says:
lol @ Kurt. he'll need an extra Enbrel after that one.
joe jones says:
He didn't like his result on 18 Saturday so Sunday he repeated the whole mess without the fall. A snowman by any other name is still an eight.
I think the word you were looking for is EXCEPT not EXPECT, same letters , different meaning.
