Czech-ing statistics

WARNING: If you are superstitious, do not read this piece. (Personally, I think it's bad luck to be superstitious, so just read it anyway and please offer your sympathetic comments below.)

Czech-born golfer Jakub Svoboda is playing his first season on the European Challenge Tour, the European Tour's AAA circuit. And... it's not going exactly well.

It gets worse. At this week's Trophée Hassan II in Morocco, Svoboda withdrew after just six holes. Here's why:

Reports say that the explanation for his score and his withdrawal is a wrist injury. If true, then at least he has a few weeks to heal until the Challenge Tour's next stop, the Challenge de Madrid in the historic city of Alcalá de Henares, on April 24.

It is not the intent of anybody here at oobgolf to kick Svoboda when he's obviously down, but even after a seven-year absence from the golf course, your humble correspondent still managed to card a 5 and a 6 on successive holes back in 2010. Of course, your humble correspondent will never attempt to play professional golf.

Here's hoping that Jakub Svoboda not only improves to where he wins on the European Challenge Tour and ultimately makes it to the European Tour, but wins some kind of award for "most improved player" at some point.

But you don't quit after six holes, do you?

Tor, time to play some golf. A commentator who never sets foot on a course has a hard time establishing credibility with me and some other oobers. When Mustang Sally writes something at least we all know he has lived through the pain, anguish, excitement, jubilation, depression, and validation that comes with playing 18. Take some of your $$ and play 9. Please!

Humble Correspondant? Who said he was humble? lol

Brian, here's some context for you: I was without a car for five long, &*#$--- miserable years. (This was due to a lousy economy and child support - nothing like a DWI or an arrest.) Now that I have a vehicle again, all I'm waiting on is for winter to end and the snow to melt. I *will* be at the range and on as many different courses in Minnesota and western Wisconsin as I can be.

And Mustang Sally *is* probably prepared to let me bend my schedule so that I *can* go and play.
Kurt the Knife says:
occasionally, i do quit after 6 holes
