Per Golf Channel:
"Use of deer antler spray will no longer be treated as a violation of [PGA] Tour's anti-doping program."
We'll update this post (or write a subsequent one later) as we learn more.

So because it's no longer illegal, there is no penalty for using it while it was illegal?

mjaber says:
By the PGA's logic, now that marijuana is legal in Washington and Colorado, anyone ever arrested for possession can now claim they were falsely arrested.

I dont believe they are not punishing him because it is no longer legal.

From what I read yesterday the reason they aren't punishing him is because he didn't test positive for it in any tests. The kicker is that they dont test for IGF-1 (the drug in deer antler spray). So they wont punish him because he didn't test positive for it, because they didn't test for it.

The PGA said that per the Anti Doping Association rules you must "test positive" for a drug to be penalized, and that is the standard they want to use.

By this logic admission of guilt shouldn't get you penalized. So for example if you unknowingly take a wrong drop because you misunderstood the rules you shouldn't be penalized? At least the PGA tour is consistant...Oh wait...

Sorry jasonfish, I'm trying hard to have an opinion on this but I just couldn't muster one. I can't sit here and pretend like I know about IGF-1 or what it does or how it could possibly enhance someone's golf game.

mjaber says:
@beef... Why does it matter what it does or does not do? Under the PGA Tour rules, up until yesterday, IGF-1 was a banned substance, just like steroids and HGH. Vijay admitted using a substance (deer antler spray) that contained IGF-1. Since he didn't test positive, even though he admitted doing it, he will not be punished.
