Joe Daley Returns To Sawgrass
By Torleif Sorenson on 5/8/13
Joe Daley has waited 17 years to get back to TPC Sawgrass.
After a long and torturous road that took him to Canada, South Africa, and South America, he finally broke through at the Senior Players Championship last July at Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh. That win automatically qualified him for this week's Players Championship on the regular tour.
Daley's story would be compelling anyway, but he is possibly noted most for getting screwed out of a PGA Tour card at Q-School in 2000, no thanks to a cup improperly installed by a grounds-crew staffer. Daley missed his card by one stroke that year. It's one of the most (in)famous missed putts in golf history:

I would be supremely pissed if that happened to me. I can just imagine how he felt missing his card because of that.
The cruelest of cruel breaks.
A similar result for a putt happened to me a fairly long time ago. I finally made a birdie putt on a hole that had denied me for years ... oops ... no I didn't make it. Bounced right back at me. I can't imagine how bad it would feel with my career on the line. It sure felt bad not getting a birdie but nowhere near what Joe Daley experienced.
Looks like Glass Joe from Mike Tyson's Punch-Out.
