Sang-Moon Bae Captures HP Byron Nelson
By mustang6560 on 5/20/13
Sang-Moon Bae held on yesterday to win his first career PGA Tour title at the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

The three-time Asian Tour winner birdied four of his first seven holes at TPC Four Seasons to jump out to a four stroke lead over Keegan Bradley, the '11 Byron Nelson champion.

For the majority of the front nine, it appeared as though Bae was going to runaway with the tournament, but a double bogey on the par-4 9th and a bogey on the par-4 10th brought him back to the field in a hurry.

After another bogey on the par-4 15th dropped Bae into a tie with Keegan, who carded his first birdie of the day, heading into the par-5 16th.

Keegan, who is known as a clutch putter, failed to match Bae's birdie on the last par-5 of the course. The Vermont-native missed his four-foot birdie putt, which put him one back. And a bogey on the par-3 17th — his third of the day — left him two strokes back entering the 72nd hole, essentially handing Bae the tournament.
"It's something I've always dreamed of, winning on the PGA TOUR," Bae said. "It was surreal to have Mrs. (Peggy) Nelson there and with all the history ... I was in awe, actually, so almost I didn't know how to react.'

Bae finished at 13-under 267 with a closing 1-under 69 on a day with wind gusting to near 40 mph at times, similar to conditions two years ago when Bradley got his first PGA TOUR win at TPC Four Seasons. Bradley shot 72 this time.
The PGA Tour is headed to Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in nearby Fort Worth to finish the second leg of its Texas Two-Step. If any oobers are planning to attend, please let us know in the comments section below.

Very good duel between Bradley and SMB. Meanwhile Shwartzel could not buy a putt on the back nine, it was almost comical. Bradley has grown on me, seems like a decent guy. Lanky guy, appears to come out of most of his shots--that gives me something to relate to. SMB was impressive in grinding out the win in tough conditions. Looks to have a good future. Like all Koreans, a really good putter. What is up with that?

Fun battle to watch down the stretch. Schwartzel could have stolen this one if he could just drop a few putts. Bradley's twitching was making me twitch. I'm from the Northeast and should be rooting for this guy, but between the twitches, stepping off of the ball and that belly putter it's getting difficult.

@Trip... He's a Red Sox fan. Shouldn't you hate him?
Trip says:
@mjaber... I guess I should, but I don't follow baseball. Just hockey & golf. I'm an Islanders fan, so.... Go Bruins!!!!

Do you think Chris Berman would have intro'd this with "There is a Bae Moon RiSANG"?
