Fowler To Match Tornado Victim Donations
By Torleif Sorenson on 5/23/13
PGA Tour star Rickie Fowler, who played two years of college golf at Oklahoma State University, said Wednesday that he will match $100,000 of donations given by patrons attending this week's Tour stop at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
"Once you have been in Oklahoma and it's a part of you, you feel like you're part of the whole state. I'm pretty involved with all of the people around there. It's a great part of the country, and it is always going to be a part of who I am."Indeed, Fowler's PR agents are located in Oklahoma City. Also, friends of Fowler's own friends living in Moore, Oklahoma and the surrounding area apparently suffered losses and damage in Monday afternoon's EF5 tornado that killed 24 people during a 17-mile trek across the central part of the state.
You need not attend this week's Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in order to support the Oklahoma tornado victims; several charitable and relief organizations are already helping them and can use your financial contributions, including the American Red Cross and Samaritan's Purse:
