Fuzzy: "It'll all blow over"
By mustang6560 on 5/24/13
Like Sergio Garcia, Fuzzy Zoeller made a racially insensitive "joke" about fried chicken and Tiger Woods nearly two decades ago. Following Tiger's runaway victory at the 1997 Masters, he said:
"You pat him on the back and say congratulations and enjoy it and tell him not to serve fried chicken next year," Zoeller said. "Got it? Or collard greens or whatever the hell they serve."
Since Fuzzy can relate, the AP reached out to Fuzzy to get his reaction to Sergio's fried chicken joke.
"Mine was a joke that went bad. What the hell, I paid my dues," Zoeller said at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where his spirits company - Fuzzy's Ultra Premium Vodka - is sponsoring the pole-winning car that will be driven by Ed Carpenter in Sunday's race.

"I don't know. They've had feuds before. It's just the way it is. That's sports," Zoeller said. "There's going to be feuds here this week sometime (at Indianapolis). Someone will get in (a spat) out here. Some you'll hear about, some you won't."
Eventually, he said the two will let bygones be bygones.
"It'll all blow over," Zoeller said. "Those boys will be fine."
The good news is it appears the clouds hovering over Sergio are already starting to clear. The Spaniard said he was able to speak to Mark Steinberg, Tiger's agent, and offer his apologizes — which were relayed to the number one golfer in the world.
"I talked to [Woods's agent] Mark Steinberg and he said to move forward," Garcia said. "But hopefully I will get the chance to talk to Tiger in person and, if not, I hope to see him at the US Open and we can talk face to face there."

Ah ha. Yet more collateral damage. Now old Zoeller gets to relive his wonderful remarks of yesteryear. I don't know about you people but to me the most skin-crawling portion of Zoeller's remarks was not the fried chicken collard greens but rather the part where he refers to Tiger as "that little boy". YIKES. At least he managed to not put his foot in mouth this time around. Because the opportunity was certainly there. Hard to believe but there are people in the world who actually blame Tiger for the blowback Zoeller got for making those remarks.

Fuzzy says, "it'll all blow over"? Interesting statement given that they are asking about his own racially insensitive comment TWENTY years later.
