Snedeker Taking Injections For Rib Injury
By Torleif Sorenson on 6/6/13
No, it's not deer antler spray. And yes, he has repeatedly cleared his medication with the PGA Tour.

Brandt Snedeker, who captured last year's Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup, continues to battle rib problems that kept him out of the 2012 U.S. Open at Olympic. After checking with PGA Tour officials, Snedeker is taking injections of Forteo, an osteoporosis med prescribed by his doctor.
"It's just a rare thing that I have," Snedeker said at the St. Jude Classic. "It's just a weird thing I've got to deal with... It's like taking an insulin shot and taking it every day. I have to travel with it. I've got to keep it refrigerated. It's probably the biggest pain of my life keeping it... refrigerated all the time.

It's hopefully long-term effects can regrow some of my bone, specifically in my rib cage where they're very, very brittle comparatively speaking to the rest of my bones. So they feel like this can maybe increase my bone mass 20 to 30 percent, which would get me back to a normal level if I have success with it. So hopefully it will have the same effect on me."
The Associated Press notes that while Snedeker ranks third on the Tour's money list, he has slipped to sixth in the world rankings. Even if his medication fails to help Snedeker win again, nobody should be questioning his talent or his character. Still...
"I feel like I'm on top of this and it's going the right direction. I really think these next couple weeks will be a good couple weeks for me."
