CBS' Peter Kostis Recovering From Cancer
By Torleif Sorenson on 6/7/13
Those of you who follow golf on the CBS television network probably noticed the absence of Peter Kostis from their golf coverage over the last few weeks. Now, we know why:
The venerable golf analyst and teaching professional has been undergoing surgery and chemotherapy for colon cancer. On Thursday, Kostis released this statement:
"As many of you know, I have been absent from the last few CBS Sports golf telecasts. I fiercely try to keep my private life separate from my public life, but after hearing John Kruk talk about his testicular cancer last Sunday during the Red Sox-Yankees game, I decided to share my situation in hopes of spreading awareness of colon cancer.Kostis has had a rather unpleasant year already, with the loss of his mother and two longtime broadcast colleagues, Pat Summerall and Ken Venturi.
Mr. Kostis, we genuinely look forward to seeing you on the course and on television again, following as complete a recovery as possible.
