Far Corner Golf Club... But Not Far Enough

The 27-hole facility in Boxford, Massachusetts is known as Far Corner Golf Course. But it's not quite "far enough" for comfort.
As reported by the aptly-named Brian Messenger of the Lawrence Eagle-Tribune, Vincent Dalessandro, Jr., of North Andover and three other golfers escaped injury when gunfire nearly hit them late Friday afternoon while they were playing Far Corner GC. As it turns out, the fire wasn't friendly, but it was apparently also unintentional. An off-duty firefighter named Corey Willis was amusing himself with a little target practice at Crescent Farm, located adjacent to the course. Willis sent bullets into the fairway and into some nearby trees. Dalessandro and his co-horts took cover as best they could. Thankfully, nobody was injured.
One of the golfers, Edward Snell, and course owner Bob Flynn told the Eagle-Tribune that they are not pleased that Willis will not be taken to court:
"I think he should have been charged," said Flynn. "I'll have to talk to the Haverhill police and see what their explanation is."The gunfire was originally reported by police as a "weapons violation / active shooting," but Crescent Farm apparently allows target shooting on their property — as does nearby Haverhill Hound, Rod & Gun Club. The Eagle-Tribune also quoted Haverhill police lieutenant Robert Pistone:
"It was certainly reckless behavior. If charges could have been brought they would have, but the District Attorney made the ruling that there was no criminal element associated with the incident."This writer does not frequent gun clubs or rifle ranges. Having said that, I would like to state for the record that the Davidowicz family, owners of Crescent Farm needs to pull their collective heads out of the sand. Either build a large, earthen berm around your property, or stop letting nitwits like Willis terrorize the neighbors. Good grief.
And while I'm at it, minus 50,000 points to Corey Willis. What the ---- were you THINKING??!!

There's probably more to this story than idiot reporters will bother to examine. If there's a gun club nearby, the SOUND of guns might have entered the golf course. I highly doubt an organized gun club would shoot into a golf course. The fact that the police told them to kiss off, indicates to me that the complainers were just idiots too. They don't have guns and they don't want anybody else to enjoy their hobby either.
so you're assuming that they're idiots because you think they assumed the threat was real? I don't see the logic behind your statement.
Torleif Sorenson says:
As Brian Messenger reports, the shots were causing divots in the fairway. I don't blame any of them for being angry about charges not being filed. The shots came from a nearby farm, not the gun range.
I don't like it, don't like it one bit.
@falcon... the gunfire, and bullets, didn't come from the gun club, which is a bit farther away. The rounds were fired from a farm, which is used by friends of the owner of the farm, for target practice.
Matt McGee says:
Falcon, did you actually read the article, or just make up a response to some stuff that you thought was probably in there?
