No Love For North

The selection of captains for the 2014 Ryder Cup Matches generated a lot of talk, but selection of vice-captains isn't likely to generate as much talk. But one talking head on ESPN presumably won't be talking on ESPN during the 2014 Matches.
And that's music to the ears of another golf talking head — Geoff Shackelford.
With U.S. captain Tom Watson's selection of two-time U.S. Open champion Andy North as a vice-captain, North will not be talking (so much) about it on ESPN. In a blog post, Shackelford expressed his joy over the news.
See, Shackelford has made it abundantly clear that Andy North is not his favorite TV golf commentator. One blog post from 2008 entitled "Sunday Dramatics: Andy North Wins; Vows To Keep Lulling Us To Sleep With His Commentary" makes that pretty well-understood. And last June, when Golfweek's Martin Kaufmann took a proverbial chunk out of North's posterior, Shackleford trumpeted this with another blog post.
Then last September, Shackelford teed off again with another doozy: "Andy North's On-Course Reporting Guide To Saying Nothing At Normal Conversational Levels.
But at least Andy North isn't Chris Berman... or even Gus Johnson...

joe jones says:
Ill take Andy North over Jeff Shackelford anytime, every time. He is the prime example of one of the terrible commentators I have railed about before. Many times his comments bear little contact to the reality of the situation but he spouts them like they were handed down to him on the mount and are chiseled in stone. He accepts no dissenting views from any one and when anyone challenges him he attacks and insults them because they don't agree with him.
Matt McGee says:
There are only three or four TV golf commentators who don't seem to think every tournament is their own daytime talk show.
"But at least Andy North isn't Chris Berman..."
+1 for the views on Chris Berman. Too many 'pun' names and too little lung capacity.
