500 Ways to Attract New Fans
By mustang6560 on 8/5/13

@PaulTesori tweeted, "@bubbawatson made over
60 people happy they chose #chipotle tonight."

Last Friday, Bubba Watson did something on the golf course the majority of us have never done -- he shot a 1-under 69 in the second round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. He also did something off the golf course the majority of us have never done either -- he bought dinner for 60 strangers.

The '12 Masters champ was at a local Chipotle in Akron, Ohio and decided to treat the entire restaurant to dinner including Paul Tesori, '12 U.S. Open champ Webb Simpson's caddie, who tweeted a picture of the receipt. And in case you were wondering, Paul sent out a follow-up tweet to confirm that Bubba tipped $100 (see Drew Brees).

So if you're a numbers guy, Bubba spent $10/person (with tip) to acquire 60 new fans.

Is anyone else irritated that 60 people didn't have a problem spending someone elses money?

Not saying I'd pass up the offer in the moment (I've never been presented with this opportubity) but I'd hope I would say thank you and pass on the offer.

Nice jesture but it doesnt make since for me to spend someone elses hard earned money, just because they (possibly) have more than me.

Why the Drew Brees reference? Completely different situations. Good for Bubba for spreading it around a little bit.

Maybe Bubba is a Chiver. KCCO!

It's funny how it looks like most people opted for the up-sell items, too.

That was for 60 people? Looks like the bill I got last week when I took my four grandkids out to dinner.

Nothing bad…though some places of work (mine) restrict access.

How does that work. Isn't Chipotle is a fast food type joint, where you order your food, pay for it then take it to a table and sit down. How could someone waltz in and pick up everyone's check, there are no checks here. Or did he go to the counter and say, the next 60 customers' orders is on me. It's nice to say he bought dinner for the whole restaurant but logistically speaking that's not really possible is it?. Unless he went round to the tables and cash reimbursed the people who were already sitting there when he arrived. Once again a story that leaves me with more questions than answers.

I guess Bubba was upset he wasn't included in GolfDigest's "Top Good Guys" list:

Um... why? Is there some disgrace in accepting an act of kindness?

jasonfish11 says:
Not for an act of kindness.

But accepting money for nothing I feel there is.

If he pulled over to help me change a tire on the side of the road I would be grateful and let him help. But buying something for me for no reason, just doesn't seem the same on my part.

Im not upset with him for offering. That's all good. More upset with the freeloaders who dont have any issue with accepting his offer.

Accepting free money is the reason I didnt apply for unemployment when I got laid off. I just found a new job instead.
