PGA Tour Europe?

According to James Corrigan of The Telegraph, the PGA Tour is interested in acquiring the European Tour.
The PGA Tour has clearly sensed the discord and, without invitation, is making its play.

Talks have already taken place at an informal basis.

As a by-product of running the European Tour, the PGA Tour would achieve its long-held objective of gaining control of at least half of the cash cow which is the Ryder Cup.
In addition to the PGA Tour, the folks in Ponte Vedra Beach currently operate the Champions Tour, the Web.com Tour, the Latinoamerica Tour, and PGA Tour Canada. If the European Tour agrees to a deal, then the PGA Tour would officially become a monopoly in golf.

According to Iain Carter of BBC Sport, the European Tour isn't interested in joining forces with the PGA Tour.

Not sure how that would affect the broadcasts, but one of the things I enjoy about the current European Tour is that the TV announcers don't feel compelled to continuously blather on and jump from player to player rapid-fire. Do Americans really have such short attention spans?
