Phil Mickelson Hires Additional Swing Coach
By mustang6560 on 10/3/13
In preparation for his record 10th Presidents Cup, Phil Mickelson added a new person to his entourage -- a ping pong coach.
"There were some reports that I took some lessons for pong prior to this tournament, and those reports would be correct," Mickelson said with a knowing smile.

The big left-hander said he hasn't played any matches yet, though. But that could change soon.

"Been taking it easy, again, working on the fundamentals, but it seems like it's coming around," Mickelson reported. "I'm ready for the challenge with some of the players."
I'm not if Lefty's hire speaks more to his competitive or to the state of the Presidents Cup.

Maybe Alan Shipnuck was right. Maybe the players really don't care who wins or loses the biennial event -- at least the U.S. players.

Not to be an ass but I really would rather see Phil v. Kuchar play a pingypong match than these two squads try to out golf each other in the name of phony patriotism.

prediction for the next President's Cup: the ping pong matches will be televised - and will score higher ratings than the Cup itself

THAT is the current difference between the Ryder and Solheim Cups, and the Presidents Cup. If Phil Mickelson or Michelle Wie were cracking ping-pong jokes during the Ryder Cup or Solheim Cup, each would be lambasted by the press for not caring enough about the competition.

Wes11point5: Good on you for finding that. I guess I keep forgetting that I have short-term memory loss.
