No More EA Sports Tiger Woods Games
By Torleif Sorenson on 10/29/13
EA Sports posted an announcement that was supposed to be centered on screenshots of EA Sports' next generation of golf video game. But what is making more news is what will not be included in that release.

Tiger Woods.
EA SPORTS and Tiger Woods have also made a mutual decision to end our partnership, which includes Tiger's named PGA TOUR golf game. We've always been big fans of Tiger and we wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.

Moving forward, we will continue to work with the PGA TOUR exclusively to create groundbreaking golfing titles and our partnership remains strong.
This writer has three thoughts about this:
  1. I am inclined to believe that this is a bit more a reflection of the newer PGA Tour talent emerging on the scene than it is about Tiger, his personal life, or his going major-less since his epic 2008 U.S. Open Championship victory at Torrey Pines.

  2. Going forward, I wish companies and celebrities would stop using the phrase "going forward" or "moving forward." Talk about an overused phrase...

  3. If this writer actually owned a video game system, it might be easier for me to be more enthusiastic about these new releases. As a person who last touched a video game controller in November of 2009 and hasn't played an arcade video game since about 1984, I'm sure I would be very impressed by the games and software that are available now.

(Possibly I need to learn how to have fun again. It's been awhile.)

It's the only golf game out there. The last 1 was their best... even tho it was bugged out.

No Tw next year is old news. It's been out, just not confirmed, for a while.

I'm waiting for them to create a game that uses your real golf clubs & swing as the controller. Basically a simulator. Given all the motion controller stuff that Xbox and Wii have done I assume it isn't too far off.

Once that is done I'll buy a new video game system.

Another overused expression is "in this writer's opinion", or "your correspondent"... i.e. people talking in the third person.

As for the game, EA has been rehashing the same thing since TW2008, and frankly having TW on the cover does not make a gamer playing the title a better golfer, or does it?

sjduffers: This writer must use those expressions and third-person references. Remember, your humble correspondent is part of a team — and there's no "I" in team.   :-P

I think this has more to do with financial factors unrelated to Tiger. They may be trying to save money to pay off the lawsuit that is pending from using the likenesses of college athletes without compensating them in the college football and basketball games.

srogers13: I forgot about that story — and I think you're correct.

This reader hates to see the phrase "that being said" what purpose does that serve going forward?

I hate it when people use the bad word "this" I mean it has the same letters as "shit" but only one of those words seems to offend people. So everyone please stop saying the t-word.
