NFL quarterback Peyton Manning of the Denver Broncos, a future Hall-of-Famer, will be one of four current NFL quarterbacks playing in the PGA Tour's annual Pebble Beach Pro-Am this week.
As reported by the PGA of America's John Kim and Michael Benzie, Manning has actually played in this event before in 2009. A member at Castle Pines Golf Club south of Denver, Manning has a USGA handicap index of 4.9. He will play in Scott Langley's group during the tournament, which will also include Tour player Greg Owen and retired San Francisco 49ers player Harris Barton. Barton graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Finance and now owns an investment asset management firm.
In an interview with PGA.com's Dan van der Kooy, Manning offered these comments and quotes:
Among the other football notables in this week's field are quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Alex Smith. New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and University of Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly are also in the field. A complete list of celebrity participants is available here.

Nothing like some golf to take your mind off things after a really bad day at work.
You guys heard OJ Simpson was rooting for Peyton in the Super Bowl? It seems he is really fond of old, white Broncos.
Torleif Sorenson says:
Everyone thinks Peyton says "Ohmaha" but he is actually saying "Orenthal" you just can't tell on TV. Its a mutual friendship.
Matt F says:
The last time anything exciting happened to a Bronco it was 1984!
Anyone been watching the ProAm? Peyton's got some game!
