Justin Rose Returns From Injury
By Torleif Sorenson on 2/14/14

Current U.S. Open champion Justin Rose returns to the PGA Tour this week at the Los Angeles Open Nissan Open Northern Trust Open at Riviera Country Club. He has been off the PGA Tour with a shoulder injury; he last played on November 3 of last year in the WGC-HSBC Champions event. Rose was suffering from basic tendinitis of his right shoulder, mostly from overuse.

But what set golf tongues wagging was the revelation (reported by Golfweek's Alex Miceli) that Rose "irritated" the shoulder when tossing a golf ball to caddie Mark Fulcher at the Barclays at Liberty National. He proceeded to play the rest of the year with the injury.
"I played pretty much from October last year with it not perfect. I assumed a little bit of rest over Christmas would heal it, but it didn't really and that's when I knew I needed to put a little bit of extra time into it — but nothing serious, nothing torn, no surgery required, nothing like that."
Still, not a very glamorous injury. Very possibly, this ranks down there with Brandt Snedeker injuring himself on a Segway and Loren Roberts breaking two ribs as the result of a sneeze. Roberts missed the 1998 Masters as a result.

Rose enters Friday's second round T-35 after shooting a one-under-par 70 on Thursday.

I seem to remember Jim Furyk throwing his back out while tooth-brushing, no joke.

1000 points for Beef; it happened in 2006 (see "Injured list"):
