Victor Dubuisson's Low Profile
By Torleif Sorenson on 3/5/14
Except perhaps to those of us who write about golf for a living, Victor Dubuisson was not on the proverbial radar screen of many American golf fans before his nearly miraculous near-victory at the WGC-Match Play in Arizona last month. Now, the Frenchman with the movie-star looks, the golf-star talent, and the increasingly golf-star bank account is a known quantity.
But "VDU" is not embracing the fame. In an interview with Steve DiMeglio of USAToday, Dubuisson explained his itinerary after his theatrics at Dove Mountain:
"I didn't have a celebration. I just took a rest.Indeed, Dubuisson is in the field at this week's PGA Tour stop, the SGC-Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral in Miami.

As GolfWeek's Jim McCabe reports, Dubuisson's clubs were mis-routed between Tucson and Miami International Airport. The Frenchman had to make another trip to the airport on Tuesday to get his regular sticks. In the meantime, Titleist club-maker Aaron Dill made four Vokey Design wedges made for him earlier this week, so Dubuisson and his coach, Benoit Ducoulombier spent all of Monday on the range at Doral.
In fact, Dill applied a very special touch to VDU's 58° wedge, commemorating the Frenchman's heroics from the desert cacti:
Now that is awesome.
