Hold That Tiger... Sink That Eagle
By Torleif Sorenson on 10/20/14
Ben Martin played college at Clemson University, then turned professional in 2010. As is typical for most young pros, Martin has gone back-and-forth between the PGA Tour and the minor-league circuit.
On Sunday, Martin played the final four holes in four-under, highlighted by a long 46-footer for eagle at the 16th hole, to capture his first PGA Tour victory. Having secured a two-year exemption, Martin will not have to worry about sliding back to the Web.com Tour at least until after the 2016-17 season.
As a bonus, the Greenwood, South Carolina native has earned a trip to the Masters Tournament, which he attended several times as a boy. Martin has played in once at Augusta as the runner-up from the 2009 U.S. Amateur. At that championship in Tulsa, Martin fell 7 & 5 to South Korea's An Byeong-hun.
We just hope Martin ditches those green pants long before then.
And speaking of bad fashions in Vegas...
