A hat-trick for Stacy Lewis
By Torleif Sorenson on 11/24/14

Stacy Lewis did not win the CME Group Tour Championship on Sunday; she finished T-9, six shots behind Rookie of the Year Lydia Ko. But Lewis won just about everything else this past weekend.

She swept the LPGA's three most important annual awards:
  • The points-based Rolex Player of the Year Award
(for the second time in three years)

  • The scoring-based Vare Trophy
(for the second consecutive year) and

  • The LPGA Official Money List title.

This might seem a little bit surprising since Lewis did not happen to win a major championship this season, although she won three other tournaments and had 15 (!) other top-ten finishes. She currently sits second in the Rolex Rankings behind only Inbee Park, who won the last-ever edition of the Wegman's LPGA Championship.

Lewis acknowledged that getting there was not necessarily spectacular:
"I'm not saying it was a great year. I would have liked to have won a major. That would have made it a great year. This makes it almost a great year."
Major or no, the numbers don't lie. And unlike on Whose Line Is It Anyway?, the points actually do matter.
